Pumzi

I thought this film was amazing. SImply put, it was the best we've watched so far this semester. Visually, the film was stunning but not garish or gaudy like Enter the Void. The story was developed yet simple while also be very deep. It is a story that really lets you know that there is more there than meets the eyes, but does not just spell it out, instead begging you to think and reflect on it. Also, as much as I would love to see this film even more developed and fleshed out, I feel contented with the way that it is able to so poignantly tell its story in short form. It is a shame though how such a brilliant film is not able to find the funding to let the director express her creative vision. This is a film that I feel as though all people should see. Being that it is only 20 minutes but so thoughtfully told and creatively expressed, I feel as though a mass audience would really be able to get a lot out of this film.

  1. I agree that the aesthetics of this film were some of the best we've seen all semester. I did feel that the budgeting issue was unfortunate, because even an extra 10 minutes of narrative exposition would have strengthened he underdeveloped parts. The film subsequently had a really rapid progression that robbed it of believability. But overall, I agree it was one of the better films of the semester.
