La Jetee

I enjoyed that this film was a short film-- that was helpful in keeping my attention, considering it was more of a photo montage than a film. Regardless, I really enjoyed the plot of the film. Time travel is such an interesting and questionable topic. I thought it was ironic that the death the main character witnessed as a child was actually his own. It makes you want to question whether or not he still would have died that way if his childhood self didn't witness that murder or if he never got into the time traveling "program" in the first place.

This movie also reminded me of the Sandra Bullock movie "Premonition" -- where the week of her husbands death, all of her days become out of order. One day it's Monday and her husbands alive, the following day it's Friday and it's her husband's funeral. But she has no memory of him dying on Wednesday, because Wednesday hadn't happened yet. As she figures out how/where/when her husband dies, once Wednesday rolls around, she actually ends up causing his death because she is trying so hard to prevent it. The irony is almost painful.

  1. I agree with you that this was a film that needed to be short out of necessity, but, despite its short length, packs a big punch. This whole time traveling thing really makes me think about the interrelation of things in life and how seemingly different situations or memories really have a huge impact on one another.
